Our dachshund story...

How it started....

I grew up on a small holding with lots of animals and horses and my parents bred parson jack Russells and border collies and competed in showing and competitive obedience with the collies. i knew i would always follow in my parents and my nan's footsteps and also become a breeder. My love for dachshunds started when i was around 12 years old and a family friend had this feisty little miniature dachshund living alongside her pack of huge Irish Wolfhounds! i just loved her little larger than life attitude, beautiful coat and she gave the bestest snuggles! 😍 i was hooked on the breed from then.

At the age of 21 i went and brought my first 2 miniature long haired dachshunds Tia and Sally and so it began.

I met my husband....

At the age of 26 i met my now husband Alec, he was a staffie man when i met him and had grown up with lots of big dogs, his mum owning Great Danes, he quickly succumbed to the greatness of my then pack of 4 dachshunds and  our  lives together grew as did our pack!

Although Alec tends to be in the background during the  birthing' s (he's quite squeamish) he is always there to offer support, cups of tea's and looks after the other dogs while i put 100% attention towards the mumma and impending babies. i think we make a good team and he does love to come home from work and play with the pups when they are running around  (he's a big softie really)  ❤️

Over the years......

Our pack has grown to 16 dogs.... why so many you ask? well, we are fortunate enough to not have to re home our girls once they have retired from breeding, they stay with us for life, at the end of the day they are family, our babies, and although they are hard work looking after them and costly keeping so many, especially as they grow older, we couldn't part with any of them. they are such a close knit pack we are lucky that they dont ever fight and just adore each other and all of them are absolutely great with the puppy litters so we can socialise the puppies plenty and they all get to interact together which is lovely to see and the puppies learn a lot from the adults.

And it continues ....

Our life pretty much revolves around the dogs and we take great enjoyment from raising our litters of puppies, so much so that when it became mandatory to gain a breeders licence to continue to breed dogs in 2018  we obviously jumped right into it and have since been the highest rating 5 star council licensed breeders. we have tough guidelines to adhere to and regular inspections to make sure we are following the strict  rules and regulations set out for dog breeders which we always pass with flying colours. i think bringing in this law can only be a positive thing for the welfare of dogs and puppies and welcome it fully, though there is lots of paperwork!! i mean lots! and other than it being time consuming its not too bad and gives the general public looking for their next companion peace of mind that they are purchasing their new puppy from a reputable breeder who can show evidence of the care and attention that goes into caring for their dogs and litters rather than Joe Bloggs from pets4homes who has let their pet dog have a litter of puppies without the knowledge that goes into correct breeding and raising puppies.
